Matryoshka: the plot

Image
My short film will revolve around Grey  - an introverted teenager who has never really fit in. He has Dissociative Identity Disorder, which is the formal term for Multiple Personality Disorder.  One day, Grey goes for a walk, and on his way home, a group of people start to follow him. At this point, it is unclear to the audience if Grey knows the group of people as he takes no notice of them. It is only after they enter his house, uninvited, when he acknowledges them. At first, Grey is unsettled by their presence, so he locks himself in the bathroom and experiences a flashback of a past experience - a fire. It is suggested that Grey started the fire, and that he is haunted by this past experience. Is Grey haunted by the people who have entered his home? Did the people help Grey start the fire? Waiting outside the bathroom is a girl called Matryoshka.   Matryoshka is Russian for Russian Doll or Nesting Doll . Grey and Matryosh...

Matryoshka: the song

Intro Eyes agleam, awash in smoke Blurring figures linger here So heavy in their mask Alcohol tainting breath   Verse 1 Moth eaten furniture set aside There, a girl who caught your eye Reaching out, you touch her thigh Searing flesh akin, boiling blood awake within Chorus Matryoshka, was her name You, like fire, try to tame Enveloped in ice, cut from pain Bleed it out, bleed it out Else it'd all be in vain Bleed it out, bleed it out Else it'd all be in vain   Verse 2 With a tilt of her face, she meets you Irises alight, heart burning with desire You follow, lost beneath her pyre Caught unaware you catch her, a smile close at hand   Middle 8 Hair as red as vermilion And eyes as blue as the sea You saw your reflection, oh, ablaze beneath your skin Caught alight you set her sin, oh, it was chilling     Verse 3 Embers slowly dying now, ashes cement your fate Poisoned smiles a float within your wake A waning su...

My Target Audience

The primary target audience for our film will be aimed at teenaged to young adult females, ideally within the age group of 15-24. Anyone below the age of 15, I'd be quite wary about as this will be a horror film after all - there may be some 'distressing scenes.'  Males are welcome to watch the film - they may relate with the male protagonist, however because this is a psychological horror I believe it will attract more to girls rather than boys as boys usually opt for gory and slasher horror films - they don't have the patience for the ambiguity and plot twists. They must be interested in psychological horror films such as Psycho and Split, obviously. However, as the film will be a short-film, our viewers will typically already be avid film watchers. Religion, race and sexuality is irrelevant as anyone can enjoy a film regardless of these factors. Similarly, in relation to what socio-economic group my target audience will fall into,...
